Single Wall Vertical Autoclave
A Single Wall Vertical Autoclave is the fundamental sterilization workhorse for any Biofertilizer plant or microbiology lab. Unlike double-walled steam jacketed units, the single-wall design is prized for its rapid heating, simplicity, and cost-effectiveness, making it the perfect companion to a 500L Basic Fermenter setup.
In a biofertilizer context, this unit is primarily used for sterilizing glass carboys of mother culture, small batches of growth media, and laboratory glassware.

Key Features of the Single Wall Model
1. Robust Construction
The main chamber is fabricated from heavy-gauge Stainless Steel (SS 304). Being a “Single Wall” unit, the heating elements are immersed directly in water at the bottom of the chamber, ensuring 100% thermal efficiency and faster steam generation.
2. Precision Steam Control
-
Pressure Gauge: Large, easy-to-read analog dial to monitor internal pressure.
-
Spring-Loaded Safety Valve: Automatically releases excess steam if pressure exceeds the safety limit (usually 22 psi).
-
Steam Release Valve: Manual knob to exhaust steam once the sterilization cycle is complete.
3. Operational Safety
-
Radial Locking Lid: A heavy-duty steel bar mechanism ensures the lid is airtight and cannot be opened under pressure.
-
Neoprene Gasket: High-temperature resistant seal to prevent steam leakage.
-
Low Water Cut-off: (Optional on Basic models) Protects the heating elements from burning out if the water level drops too low.
Integration in Biofertilizer Production
In a 500L Basic Fermenter plant, the Vertical Autoclave performs three critical “Pre-Fermentation” tasks:
-
Media Sterilization: Before the 500L tank is inoculated, the “Mother Culture” media must be sterilized in 5L or 10L flasks. The vertical orientation allows for easy loading of tall glassware.
-
Carrier Sterilization: For carrier-based fertilizers, small batches of lignite or charcoal can be sterilized in bags within the autoclave chamber.
-
Contamination Control: Post-production, any contaminated batches or used petri dishes are “autoclaved out” at 121°C for 20 minutes to ensure environmental safety.
Buyer Scope & Installation
-
Electrical: Requires a dedicated 15A or 30A single-phase power outlet depending on the chamber volume (typically 50L to 150L).
-
Water: Use of DM (De-mineralized) water is highly recommended to prevent scaling on the heating elements and internal walls.
-
Maintenance: Daily cleaning of the bottom plate and weekly flushing of the chamber to maintain SS longevity.
